ARRA User Export Import for Joomla! 1.7&2.5 is a Joomla! 1.7 and Joomla! 2.5 native extension and will not work on Joomla! 1.5.x based websites. Please use free version of component for Joomla! 1.5.x .
As you know, "Super Administrator" user type from Joomla! 1.5 was changed to "Super User" in Joomla! 1.7&2.5. This is the user with full control in Joomla! system so we should be careful when working with it.
So, when you will export users from Joomla! 1.5, the csv/txt file will contain a row with Super Administrator user data. Most of the Joomla! users choose as username "admin", so I am sure that users will choose the same username when they will create a new Joomla! 1.7&2.5 based website for their Super User account.
Well, in this case, when you will import the csv/txt file from Joomla! 1.5, our extension will find that the username is already in use so will not import the Super Administrator user (unless the overwrite is specified).
In order to avoid this and if you want the Super Administrator imported too, you must choose another username and email address when you create a Joomla! 1.7&2.5 Super User.
The above case can be extended to others user type too:
sample: you have installed Joomla! 1.7 or Joomla! 2.5 and you have created an Author for the site like : Author name, autor username, autor email...
Now you will import from the Joomla! 1.5 site a user list that contains also an "autor username" but it's from other author. Normally you don't want to rewrite the existing Joomla! 1.7&2.5 one, but you want to import the new one too. So to accomplish this, when you will import the csv or txt file we will generate a list with all these duplicated cases.
You can download this generated file to see which users were not imported and you can change their username and email, then import again.
The error message will appear like in the image bellow:
All these users from 'error_same_username.csv' file are already in the database!!! So they were not imported because they have same `username` like the other users from your database.
You can overwrite all the data for these users by selecting: Overwrite entire data(all fields from joomla tables)from imported file for existing users from `CSV/TXT Import options`.
Be AWARE that by using that option you will change old existing user data!!!
Please be sure you read Import Emails Settings article too, is very important.
