Joomla 1.7 User - Profile Fields
ARRA User Export Import for Joomla! 1.7&2.5, have a very useful feature called User Profile Fields. This feature will replace additional columns feature from Joomla! 1.5.
As you know, Joomla! 1.7 come with a new system plugin named "User - Profile", a plugin who add new fields for each Joomla! user. The bad news about this plugin is that it have pre-made user fields and you can't edit them.
The good news is that we added "User profile fields" tab in ARRA User Export Import were you can add any number of fields you want and you can edit them too.
If you want that some fields you add to have the option to be set as "required" you must replace this file (unzip downloaded) over the one from server (plugins/user/profile/profile.php) - make a backup of original one just in case. Be aware that for Joomla! 2.5 is a different file - read this.

There are few important steps based on what you want to do:
1. You want to import a user list from Joomla! 1.5, list were users have additional info columns.
1.1 Before any import you must create user profile fields through our extension! Is very easy to add them and you must create the exact number of fields you have in Joomla! 1.5 instalation.

as soon you added them, you can see all fields you added in "User Export" tab under "User Profile Fields" - there are also default fields that Joomla! 1.7 come with.
1.2 Now, do an export, as .csv or .txt, you will notice that exported .csv have the fields you added (joomla add automated a profile. suffix to each field, is ok like that) and you will see under the Super User some data that come right after *** row - DO NOT DELETE THEM, are used on import.

1.3 Last, after first row of Super User, add more empty rows and fill with your users list with their additional info, info must match each column head (ex. car, movies, phone.....), if an user have no info on that fields no problem, it will be added like that in database.
1.4 Once you filled all .csv file with users you want to import just go to Import tab and upload list.
At any time you can see these fields under Joomla! 1.7 User Manager, just open an user and see on the left under "User Profile" tab, there are fields you added.

2. You want to add to current users some new profile fields, no import from another Joomla installation.
In this case just create user profile fields and that is all, you can see then under each user profile in Joomla!.
